2x Everything

This is my first blog post. I am intending to write about things I am interested in. Review products that I have used and don't see many reviews online. I am an engineer and English is my 2nd language, so I am double handy-caped on writing. You will find grammar and spelling mistakes. Deal with it!! :D

The reason for "2x Everything" is that I listen to podcasts and watch Youtube video in 2x speed, . Sometimes 1.5x if the person talks fast and sometimes 3x if the person talks slow. Of course most people think I am crazy when I tell them, especially English is not even my first language. However, I just find that I get bored when I listen to podcast or watch Youtube videos. Hence I love the feature on Youtube where you can adjust the speed of the video playback up to 2x, and I love Pocketcast on Android which can play back podcast at up to 3x. A number of audio book app can also play back at higher speed.

This all began when I learnt that human can listen much faster than we can talk. We speak on average 150 words a minute but we can listen up to 450 words a minute, which explains why it was so difficult to concentrate in lectures. Because my brain is bored waiting for information to be delivered. This is where 2x play back comes in. If we double the playback rate, and make the video, podcast or auditbook talk at 300 words a minute, then my brain is processing info at it's normal speed. I am not bored.

So go on, and give it a try. Set your play back speed at 1.25x to start with, and you will want 2x everything in no time.
